Global play event presented by Nickelodeon and The Association of Children’s Museums
West Sacramento, CA - The Wonder Grove is excited to announce its participation in Our World: Worldwide Day of Play on September 27, 2025. This global event, presented by Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), is dedicated to experiencing joyful learning through play and encouraging kids and families to get up, get out, and play together. The Wonder Grove will host this free community play event at Stonegate Elementary in West Sacramento. Families are invited to join the fun by registering online at www.thewondergrove.org.
“Play is a powerful experience that enriches people’s lives in museums, schools, homes, and beyond,” states Arthur G Affleck, III, Executive Director of the Association of Children’s Museums. “ACM is pleased to partner with Nickelodeon on amplifying the importance of play on wellbeing and healthy brain development, and to make learning more effective and joyful for everyone. As children’s museums, we believe in the power of play and we strive to nurture more play and playful learning everywhere we go.”
“When we give children time and space to play, we open the door to discovery and joy. Our Day of Play is all about that, from bubbles and chalk art to painting, slime, and building a cardboard city. Every activity is a chance to create, imagine, and connect as a community,” said Aukje de Jager, Education Manager at The Wonder Grove. Arooj Ahmad, Stonegate Elementary PTO President, said, “Centering the play helps build community when we work together to create literal spaces for joy and creativity to flourish. Our PTO is excited to partner with The Wonder Grove and host this exciting event in West Sacramento.”
Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nichelodeon’s Our World global initiative, which aims to inspire children and provide resources to help them develop their individual and collective agency. The Wonder Grove is one of more than 360 ACM member children’s museums who reach millions of families in North America, and over 1,450 museums participating in Museums for All, a national access initiative that managed by ACM.
