National Get Outdoors Day on the American River
Mother Lode River Center is hosting an official National Get Outdoors Day event (GO Day) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012. This new annual event is an outgrowth of the ''Get Outdoors USA!'' campaign encouraging Americans, especially youth, to seek out nature and active, healthy lifestyles. This GO Day event will provide children, teens and families with the opportunity to experience traditional and non-traditional outdoor activities with the hope to inspire and motivate all to get outdoors more! GO Day at Mother Lode River Center will offer a variety of FREE activities and learning opportunities for attendees including a climbing wall, zip line, hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, gold panning, gardening, and a native plant and animal study. When driving from Sacramento: Go East on Highway 50. Exit at the N. Shingle Springs/Ponderosa Road off ramp, exit # 37. At the top of the off ramp turn left and go over the freeway. Take the first available right turn onto N. Shingle Road. In approximately 4.5 miles this road turns into Lotus Rd. (you will probably not even know it when it happens). Stay on Lotus Rd until it dead-ends at Hwy. 49 (approx. 5 miles). Turn left onto Hwy 49 and you will cross over the South Fork of the American River. Mother Lode Camp is located on the left side of Hwy. 49, 2.3 miles from the South Fork bridge and opposite County road marker 26.51. Our physical address is 6280 Hwy 49.
