The West Sacramento Candidates’ Forum is produced each general election cycle by the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. This evening brings the business community and the residents of West Sacramento together with political candidates in a discussion of key issues. In the interest of fairness and to ensure an environment for polite, civil discussion the following rules will be observed:
- One piece of campaign material per candidate permitted for distribution on the back table. Banners, signs, posters, hats, petitions, and/or any other campaign material promoting one candidate over another is not permitted in the venue.
- Members of the audience will please refrain from applauding or doing anything visible or audible to express support or opposition to any candidate during the forum.
- The order of opening statements will be determined by a drawing of lots the evening prior to the forum program. The order for closing statements will be the reverse of opening statements.
TIMING: In statements or answers that are two minutes or more, there will be three signals given to candidates: The first when there are 20 seconds left; the second when there are 10 seconds left; and the third, a stop signal when the time has run out.
- Members of the audience are invited to submit written questions. Please complete the form available at the information table. One question per sheet, please. Each question will relate to one subject only and should be clearly stated. Questions will be screened by a non-partisan committee in order to avoid duplications. Selected questions will be presented to each slate by the moderator as time allows.
The West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce produces this event and does not endorse any candidate.
