Bucks for Ducks Features a ''Gaggle of Gatherings''

Yolo Basin Foundation is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area at its gala fall fundraising event, Bucks for Ducks, which will be held on Friday, October 12th from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Davis Veterans Memorial. This year's honorees are the former 8th District Assemblyman Tom Hannigan, who was instrumental in the creation of the Wildlife Area, and the California Department of Fish and Game, which owns and operates the refuge.

There will be live and silent auctions and a raffle with a deluxe bicycle package as the grand prize. Food will be provided by the Buckhorn and served by community notables. This year for the first time Bucks for Ducks guests will enjoy a new activity--a ''Gaggle of Gatherings.'' It consists of nine parties or trips for which guests may buy single tickets to attend rather than bidding on an entire event. The offerings range from a cooking class and dinner hosted by Susanne Rockwell and Brian Sway with celebrity chefs Paul and Robyn Bergman of the Mustard Seed to a geology tour of the region with plate tectonics expert Dr. Eldridge Moores. Other gatherings include a bike tour and lunch at the Wildlife Area, a private bat tour, a wildflower and photography day, a one-man performance of Walt Whitman's ''Song of Myself'' with actor Johnny Stallings, a day devoted to raptors, a house concert with opera singer Marta Johansen, and a behind the scenes tour of the Cache Creek Casino with Betsy Marchand. Ticket costs are between $30 and $75 depending on the event. Tickets not sold at Bucks for Ducks will be available for purchase online at the Yolo Basin Foundation website after the event.
