WOMEN TO BE HONORED AT 19TH ANNUAL YOLO COUNTY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH LUNCHEON
The Yolo County Women's History Month committee has announced this year's luncheon honorees. Each of these women is being honored for embodying the theme of this year's celebration - ''Women: Builders of Communities and Dreams.''
''The Yolo County Women's History Month Committee is pleased with the selection of these honorees, and it reminds us once again of the meaningful contributions so many dedicated women have made to our communities,'' said Bj Ford, chairwoman for the event.
The six women will be honored at the 19th Annual Women's History Month luncheon to be held on Thursday, March 9 at the Holy Rosary Community Center, located at 575 California Street in Woodland, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In addition, two Legacy awards will be given honoring two inspiring Woodland women who are now deceased.
The women to be honored at the luncheon are: Lucinda Talkington of Woodland, Helen Voss of Esparto, along with Joan Sublett, Joan Hogan, Natalie Wormeli and Ann Evans all of Davis. The legacy awards will be given to honor the work of Gracie Hiddleson and Mary Lynne Ishikawa.
Honorary chairperson for the event is Debbie Davis, editor and assistant publisher of the Davis Enterprise. Davis is a 27-year veteran of the paper and a 2004 Davis Citizen of the Year award recipient, as well as a present and past community leader in Soroptimist International, Rotary Club and the United Way Leadership Council.
