DESCRIPTION:Foster Care Pre-Service\nFacilitated by Cherie Schroeder & Guest Speakers including Licensed Foster Parents\nEvenings of May 5\, 6\, 12\, 13\, 17\, 19\, 20 & 27\, 2008\n6:30 to 9:30 pm\nEach Class will be held at Woodland Community College\n2300 East Gibson Road\, Bldg. 100 Rm. #114\nFriends\, Guests and the General Public are Welcome!\nJoin us to learn more about Yolo County foster care and adoption of infants\, children and teens from foster care through our Pre-Service classes.  The rewards and challenges of parenting infants and children placed out-of-home into protective custody will be highlighted.  Several foster/adoptive parents will share their experiences with fostering and what it has meant to them and their families.  Our classes will serve to answer many questions we know you have and work to demystify common fallacies regarding the requirements for becoming a licensed foster parent.  We will talk about who foster children and their birth families are\, issues and considerations of child abuse\, reunification goals\, concurrent planning\, adoption from foster care\, foster care licensing\, and the certification process for placing children with relatives (kinship) and non-relative extended family members.
