DESCRIPTION:Día de Muertos\n\nThe Davis Cemetery District and Arboretum in collaboration with Ethnic Studies Faculty at Woodland Community College will host a free Day of the Dead Celebration on Sunday\, November 2\, 2014 beginning at 11:30 AM on the historic grounds of the Davis Cemetery. Please come be part of this celebration with Mexica danzantes\, speakers\, poets\, and music honoring all. Please feel free to bring objects honoring loved ones to be placed on the altar.\n\nThe event starts at 11:30 am with an altar viewing and pan de los muertos\, followed at noon by an indigenous Mexica danza led by Kalpulli Tlayolot\, Poetry by Francisco X. Alarcon\, Music by David Campos\, and then traditional Mexican music by Mariachi Tonantzin.\n\nAltar displays will be offered by Saint James\, Singing for All\, Sharon Torres\, and Ethnic Studies.\n\nThis celebration is one of the few Meso-American indigenous influenced rituals\, honoring the circle of life on mother earth\, which has not been eradicated. The celebration is part of an effort to create community\, a sense of belonging\, and global awareness of cultural richness in our multicultural society.\n\nDonations of marigold flowers and volunteers would be appreciated.
