SUMMARY:Bat Walk & Talk 2015
DESCRIPTION:Available June dates: \n16th at 6:45PM\n24th at 6:45PM\n*Please contact Cquirk@yolobasin.org for tickets and questions.\n\nYolo Causeway is home to bats!\nBring your friends\, family or kids to this fun\, outdoors\, summer nature experience. See live bats up-close. Every summer thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats protect agricultural land throughout the Sacramento Valley. Learn about the environmental benefits of these amazing animals and their importance as insect control at the Yolo Basin Foundation - Bat Talk and Walk. We will dispel misconceptions\, fears and myths that lead to the death of roosts and colonies. Inform others and help protect our natural world. View live bats\, captive\, non-releasable\, and native to Northern California\, at one of our popular summer events.\n\nEvent Details: \nFollowing a 45 minute indoor presentation on bat natural history\, the group will carpool out to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area to watch one of the largest colonies of Mexican free-tailed bats in California as it emerges in large ribbons to hunt insects at sunset. To get to the bat viewing site\, we will travel through leased rice farming fields to an area not open to the public. The whole experience takes about 3 hours. This is a family friendly event! There is a small amount of walking. Those in wheelchairs or unable to walk may view the bats by car. Please let us know if you have special needs.\n\nTickets: \nYou may reserve up to six spots per family. Adults are $12 each\, children 16 and under are free. All reservations are final. A separate confirmation email will be sent as the event nears\, with location and directions to the event.Private Events: If you wish to bring a larger group (e.g. scouts\, PTA school trip\, church group\, or a bunch of your friends)\, the cost is $12 per adult\, with a minimum fee of $240.
