The reception is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday\, May 20.\n\nPainting for 15 years\, Bautista's work incorporates diverse approaches to style and subject\, but is grounded in solid techniques. She layers her paint to give life and vibrancy to her work.\n\nShe got her start taking a basic painting class at the Davis Arts Center and at a local community college. She continued to study the arts over the years at various classes and workshops from a variety of teachers. There she learned the fundamental basic techniques and how to transfer her love of colors and energy onto the canvas.\n\n"I paint many different subjects\," Bautista said. "Any subject can be a reference of what my artistic eyes interpret\, where the interpretation is something only I can create. I try to develop my own style of painting but if I have to categorize it\, it can be called impressionism and abstract."\n\nGallery 1855 is at the historic Davis Cemetery District\, 820 Pole Line Road. All are welcome to enjoy the art and then take a self-guided tour of the cemetery. For more details on the exhibition\, contact Kristi Dvorak at cemcod@dcn.org or visit www.daviscemetery.org.
