       PROJECT PRIDE CALL TO ACTION

Your Chamber is asking for your help.

Recent years have seen several transformative changes in West Sacramento. But the more the cityscape changes, the more obvious it becomes that some factors within the community are holding back further progress and dampening property values for all West Sacramento residents and businesses.

The West Sacramento Chamber has launched Project Pride, a multi-year initiative with the business community working jointly with our City government and residents to ensure our community reaches its potential.

I know you will join me and the rest of the Chamber in working on this important issue that is vital to our continued growth. We made it easy for you to sign up to work on the various projects, or give us suggestions for other areas to include in Project Pride.

I know together we can and will make a difference.

Sincerely,

Andy Wallace
2007 West Sacramento Chamber President

We'd also like to hear your ideas and comments. You can also share this email with other individuals within your organization.

þ Enhancing the look on West Capitol Avenue - Working with business owners to upgrade their business appearances. Work with the City to remove those few motels that support drug and prostitution activities.

þ Workshops and targeted business lunches - Hold workshops to assist those businesses who want to make improvements to their property, providing resources from architectural and landscaping design to possible financing options.

þ Lighting of the Ziggurat – work with the State of California to light the Ziggurat which points the regional community to the river front and the opportunity in West Sacramento

þ Freeway Signage - improving the quality of freeway signage and using signage space to direct travelers to city businesses

þ Gateway Improvements – Implement a program to enhance the city’s entrances, finding creative ways to show the spirit of our community through signage and architectural enhancements. This can include community activity banners promoting seasonal events, or displaying service organization logos at gateway locations. It may also include new signs as well as eliminating or upgrading ones that do not portray the proper image of West Sacramento.

þ Boat Dock Rebuilding – repair and reopen the boat dock at Raley’s Landing allowing boaters an opportunity to visit West Sacramento for entertainment or a baseball game

þ Public Art - working with the city to enhance public art

þ Historical Markers - partnering with the West Sacramento Historical Society to develop monuments and historical markers celebrating the community’s history

þ Public Recreational Access - Expanding more recreational access to the Sacramento River with continued park development.
